The first-ever UK PADEL Charity Championships made a spectacular debut at PADIUM, blending competition with a powerful charitable mission in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). The event ended with a bang as team 10Star claimed the title, capping off a superb day of timed padel matches and trying out a 10 point challenge against four of the best players in the UK.
Sponsored by Delta Capita, teams from across the city went head-to-head in a spirited contest, with 10Star emerging victorious through a display of relentless energy, slick teamwork, big-match composure and by the look of it some quite serious training and preparation. Their win in the championship match was met with roaring applause from the packed balcony over looking the show court
In a unique twist, the pairs then featured in an exciting “10-Point Challenge”, where top GB players Jasmine Dedakia, Laura Jackson, Jake Bewley and Sam Jones took on all competing teams in fast-paced, crowd-pleasing 10 point showdown. Remarkably the 10star team once again dominated getting the highest score of 6! These exhibition-style showdowns added a lot of fun for the competitors as they tested their skills against Four of TEAM GB’s finest.
“Our goal is always to bring communities together through padel and sport, and in this event it was the turn of the city community, and the level of padel exceeded all our expectations,” said UK PADEL CEO Nick Baker. “The pros brought world-class flair in the exhibition mixed doubles match, the corporate teams brought incredible heart, and everyone united behind the incredible work of GOSH”.
CEO of MACH technology at Delta Capita Steve Vinnicombe brought three teams to take on the challenge and really got into the spirit of a UK PADEL event “ Delighted that Delta Capita could support such a cause as GOSH whilst chasing shadows around Padel courts. Great day.“
Support from the event will help GOSH give seriously ill children the best chance and the best childhoods possible, making every rally and every point played part of something much bigger.
