The second UK PADEL Charity Championships brought together the worlds of business, sport and fundraising at PADIUM, Canary Wharf, raising more than £10,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH). The event welcomed players from across financial services, law, consulting, venture capital and technology for an afternoon of competition, networking and fundraising, all in support of one of the UK’s most important children’s charities. The Championships were made possible thanks to the generous support of Alpha FMC, Brooks Macdonald, Fulcrum Asset Management, Portfolio Ventures and TransPerfect Legal. Thank you to PADIUM for hosting the event and to Georgina Ambrose from Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, who spent the day with players and guests, providing valuable insights into the incredible work undertaken by the hospital and how fundraising directly supports children and families.

A Fantastic Day of Competition

Players competed in timed 20-minute matches throughout the afternoon, with teams representing: Alpha FMC, Brooks Macdonald,Fulcrum Asset Management, Portfolio Ventures, TransPerfect Legal,10Star, Active Partners, Fieldfisher, Steamship Mutual, WTW alongside a number of individual pairs and invited participants from across the UK PADEL community. One of the highlights of the day was the 10 Point Challenge on Centre Court, where players had the opportunity to test themselves against some of the UK’s leading players. After a series of brave attempts and some outstanding performances, the challenge was won by the team from Fieldfisher.

Finals

After a great afternoon of timed matches the final produced a fitting finale to an outstanding day, with The Jesters Club pair edging out Brooks Macdonald by the narrowest of margins, winning 6-5 in a thrilling contest. The Plate competition was equally competitive, with Tallow Chandlers producing an excellent performance to take home the Plate title against another Jesters Club pair. The day concluded with a high-quality exhibition match featuring some of the UK’s most exciting players, Rosie Quirk, Sian Payne, Jake Bewley and Charlie Götke, providing a fantastic showcase for the sport. The event once again demonstrated the power of sport to bring communities together, raising more than £10,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and helping support the incredible work carried out by the hospital every day.
