It has been a busy weekend for UK PADEL having just successfully ran the inaugural U13 Schools Championships, as well as the Over 40s Inter-County Championships!
Joining the highly successful annual U15 and U18 Schools Championships, UK PADEL held the inaugural U13 Schools Championships at Core Padel in Birmingham on Sunday 01 February.
Boys, girls and mixed teams from 8 independent and state schools battled it out in an event characterised by great sportsmanship and fun. Each match saw two pairs from each school in a 20-minute timed format – with an initial round-robin stage leading to a knock-out draw for those teams that progressed.
The Mixed Final saw a strong Bristol Grammar School side prevail against Terra Nova School from Cheshire to become the first U13 Mixed Schools Champions. Terra Nova School won the Girls competition edging out Millfield.
The Boys competition was strongly contested, with Whitgift, Millfield, University College School (UCS) and Terra Nova School reaching the semi-finals. Whitgift pulled off a tight win against Millfield with UCS coming through against Terra Nova to set up a Whitgift versus UCS fi
final. Whitgift prevailed in a thrilling final to be crowned U13 Boys Schools Champions with all the finalists showing great skill and determination.
