Building Milton Keynes: A Sport for Everyone, Including Sally
Just a year into her padel journey, and having been a little uncertain about what to expect, Sally has been blown away by the encouragement she has received from UK PADEL staff and coaches and is now a regular player. You can get a flavour of the sheer love she has for the sport in this clip, the first of a new series we’ll be promoting here on the 15:30 newsletter. Everyone here is getting excited about the opening of our next club in Milton Keynes this autumn, as we know it’s a big opportunity for padel to have a positive impact on communities in the area, and inspire new audiences including people just like Sally.
If you’re thinking about giving the sport a go, for just £25 a UK PADEL starter pack provides two months access across all our clubs – three in Buckinghamshire and Newquay in Cornwall. We reckon you’ll love it just as much as Sally.
Case Study: How Nexus ReGen Came On Board
Will and Pip Rundle are not only regular competitors at UK PADEL’s Bucks clubs, they’re also proud net sponsors at Holmer Green. The sporty couple, and new parents, run Nexus ReGen, an innovative company that connects construction sites that have surplus material with sites that need it. Their partnership is a prime example of how local businesses are thriving by connecting with the fastest-growing sport in the world and you can read about their journey here. If you want to get your own business in front of our highly engaged community, we offer a range of opportunities across court branding, event sponsorships, kit branding, and tournament live-stream integration.
Corporate Days Out: What You Can Expect
We love giving opportunities for companies to take over one of our clubs for a day. Corporate padel days make a refreshing change from the usual options like crazy golf or go-karting – and everyone involved always says they’re glad to have tried something different. You can organise your day however you want, but Shandy Shack have one next month in Holmer Green that starts with an “intro to padel” playing session, followed by a Uruguayan barbecue, then more coaching before a classic “mix-in” session (fast, friendly with a competitive edge). Of course it ends with a round of shandy for everyone, and before you know it five hours will have whistled by with the emphasis on fun, team-building, and with many, of course, discovering padel for the first time.
Your Rallies: Best of the Action
This week’s countdown starts with one of those perfect lobs that bounces out of court, while we also bring you an unexpected body shot, a delightful passing shot and some priceless reactions when a plan doesn’t quite work out (but it all ends well even so). The no.1 rally is all about a seriously classy passage of padel ending with a terrific winner. Once again, these simply joyful moments remind us why padel is the best sport in the world.
Ratings: Change on the Way?
It’s no secret that the traditional padel rating system is flawed. The rigid, algorithm-driven process essentially labels players, and doesn’t help them enjoy the game. It also tends to reward raw power over smart, tactical play, turning what should be a social, flowing sport into a stressful numbers game. UK PADEL has already torn up this system, with a brand new approach to helping players find the perfect match. But we’re crystallizing this by calling it something else altogether, with a whole new visualisation about how we operate. We’re not quite ready to do the grand reveal yet, but stay tuned – we think we’ve landed on a powerful new concept.
