Brilliant Finale Confirms Roaring Success of Masters Padel
The UK PADEL Masters Series saluted 12 winning pairings last weekend as some of the country’s leading age-group players competed for the first Masters titles across six separate categories, men and women, from Over-35s to Over 60s.
Launched as a new competitive platform for players aged 35 and over, the series has quickly established itself as a new highlight of the domestic calendar. Players descended on The Padel Hub Southampton from all over the UK to compete for the inaugural Masters titles, showcasing both the quality and depth of age-group padel now emerging nationally.
Tournament Director Mark Ayers said: “The level of competition and the atmosphere were fantastic. The Masters Series has brought together some of the strongest age-group players and communities in the country, and it’s clear there is real momentum behind Masters padel in the UK. This is an exciting foundation to build on next year.
More Memorable Moments
In our second round-up of TOP 5 PLAYS, we’ve again been on the lookout for the most skilful, wild, wacky, and downright entertaining passages of play as captured by our club players using the PUSH IT technology that it seems nobody can quite get enough of. Padel is, above all else, something that’s meant to be fun – and this little highlight reel is proof that that’s exactly what it is. See if your own footage is captured in our latest round-up video!
UK PADEL Backs New BUCS Padel Championships
UK PADEL has beaten off fierce competition to be appointed the delivery partner for the inaugural British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Padel Championships. The event will take place at Padel Leeds North, 9-10 May. Nick Baker, CEO of UK PADEL said: “We want to create high-quality, inclusive competitions that bring people together and provide a pathway from schools to universities and into the adult game. Seeing so many universities represented, the level of play, and the sense of camaraderie shows padel is thriving in the university space.”
U15 Players Showcase Depth of Talent at Grassroots Level
The continued rise of schools’ padel in the UK was reflected in the UK PADEL U15 Schools Championships, delivering record participation and thrilling competition across all categories.
Held at Rocket Padel Ilford, the second edition of this tournament attracted more than 110 players from 17 schools making it the largest U15 edition to date. The event featured Boys, Girls and Mixed competitions, showcasing the growing inspiration UK PADEL events are having on junior and school participation and the depth of participation in the sport.
Super Leagues Continue to Flourish Across All Our Clubs
The UK PADEL Super Leagues are flying! Holmer Green now has 75 leagues, Newquay boasts 35, there are 21 at Stoke Poges, and 20 at our newest club Princes Risborough. The Super League format is for those craving an extra level of competition. As we don’t use an algorithm to rank players, the league is a great way to “force” your way into matches against the strongest players in the club. Each month, the four players in each league meet once and play three full sets, partnering each player in their group for one set each. At the end of the month, one player goes up, one player goes down and two stay. We have also just launched a Singles Super League at Holmer Green and are due to launch one in Newquay too.
FINALLY, while it’s estimated only 30% of padel players in the UK are women, here at UK PADEL we’re seeing a much more even split, however. At the Masters Series final, we had 50% female participation, and our clubs warmly welcome new women players, and generally have an equal proportion of men and women playing. So if you’re a woman thinking about taking up padel, then visit a UK PADEL club today!
