NUPL Finals Day Coming to Bristol on Wednesday

UK PADEL is proud to serve as title sponsor of the National Universities Padel League (NUPL) Finals Day coming up next Wednesday at Rocket Padel, Bristol. It’s a high-intensity knockout competition starting promptly at 10am with 12 courts in action in the early stages. There’ll be a live stream hosted by us available for Court 1, taking in all six matches from there including the women’s final at 2.45pm and the men’s final at 4pm. The first and only official student padel league in the UK, built by students for students, NUPL was started in 2024 by two friends organising a friendly match and has grown into a national competition featuring 20 universities, three divisions of play, and it all culminates in this finals day with 72 players involved. Always drawing an energetic, passionate crowd – well over 100 spectators are expected in Bristol next week – it’s the showcase day for padel at university level and the UK PADEL team can’t wait for the action to begin.

Your Rallies: Best of the Action

We’ll keep clipping up the most exciting snippets of action recorded by the PUSH IT cameras for you to enjoy – and maybe see if your own rally made the cut! Here’s our latest assortment of unexpected moments, comedy slip-ups and just pure worldie skills. These highlights are one of the best ways to demonstrate what those who haven’t yet experienced padel are missing out on – so be sure to share them with any non-padel players in your network!

The Power of Open Matches via the UK PADEL app

Open matches at UK PADEL are changing how players meet, mix, and improve. Using the UK PADEL app, anyone can create a game by choosing a date, time, and level range – and players of a similar standard simply join. No cliques, no barriers, just great padel! The format keeps things competitive through partner rotation and creates brilliant moments: an 80‑year‑old and a 17‑year‑old recently won a tie‑break together, and there was even a spontaneous match featuring four players all called Chris! Open matches widen circles, build confidence, and help players progress faster by playing with more people, more often.

Science Proves It: Live Longer by Playing Padel!

A recent article in the Telegraph’s Health section headlined How Tennis Can Add Years To Your Life presented recent studies linking tennis to better heart health, stronger bones, sharper thinking, and a lower risk of cognitive decline thanks to its blend of bursts of movement, decision‑making, and social connection. Padel delivers all of this in an even more accessible format: constant lateral movement, fast reactions, tactical choices, and meaningful interaction every time you step on court. So whether you’re competing hard or just having fun, playing padel regularly keeps you primed for a longer life.

Another Celebrity Endorsement for Padel

Padel is becoming so commonplace in people’s lives that we shouldn’t be that surprised that casual mentions of the sport get dropped into all sorts of everyday conversations. But we still had to raise an appreciative eyebrow when Wayne Rooney – during a freekick masterclass with rapper, Twitch streamer, and influencer Tays – unexpectedly mentioned padel to help his protege improve his balance and technique. “You play padel, don’t you?” says the former Manchester United star – before sending a perfect free kick soaring into the top left-hand corner.
