The UK PADEL Over 40 County Championships delivered a memorable weekend of elite competition as Yorkshire and South Wales emerged as champions across the Mixed, Women’s and Men’s events at Rocket Padel Bristol.
Yorkshire set the standard in Mixed and Women’s events
Yorkshire once again underlined their strength in depth, retaining the Over 40 Mixed title and going on to dominate the Women’s competition on Sunday. Their Women’s team delivered a composed and commanding performance in the final, overcoming a Sussex side that fought relentlessly to earn their place in the showcase match.
Throughout the weekend, Yorkshire’s Women’s and Mixed teams stood out for their togetherness, consistency and ability to deliver under pressure.
The Mixed event once again highlighted why it holds a unique place in the UK padel calendar. Fast-paced, and played to the demanding Fast 4 format it was fiercely competitive while being deeply social. It brought players together in an atmosphere that perfectly captures what county padel is about — community first, competition second to none.

South Wales make history in dramatic Men’s final
Sunday saw high quality contests played across every court at Rocket Padel, but the Men’s final went to another dimension this year as Surrey vs South Wales delivered a gripping encounter that swung dramatically as the match unfolded.
Surrey looked in control early, leading by a set in both ties and appearing poised to defend their title. But inspired by Craig Evans, South Wales showed exceptional resilience, clawing both matches back to one set all before holding their nerve to win both championship tie-breaks.
The result sealed South Wales’ first-ever UK PADEL County Championships title, a landmark moment for Welsh padel that reflects the padel community pushing hard to grow participation and a rapidly strengthening player base.
smarter, more connected event experience
The championships also saw the successful introduction of UK PADEL’s new portable scoreboard system from LED COUNTS, which played a key role in enhancing the event experience for players, fans and organisers alike. The networked scoreboards allowed spectators and teammates to easily follow scores across the venue, with scoreboards on each court creating a more interactive and engaging atmosphere on every court.
For organisers, it gives a better line of sight of match flow and schedule adjustments as the event progressed. This technology marks another step forward in how UK PADEL delivers large-scale competitions. More information on the system can be found here:
A celebration of team padel
“This weekend showcased exactly what the County Championships are about,” said Mark Ayers, UK PADEL Tournament Director.
“The standard continues to rise year on year, but just as importantly, the sense of team spirit and community across all counties was outstanding. Congratulations to Yorkshire and South Wales, and thanks to every player and captain who helped make this such a special event.”
UK PADEL also extended its thanks to the Rocket Padel team and to event sponsors HEXA Padel, HEAD, Bilko, Lauralu UK, MATCHi and Shandy Shack, whose continued support plays a vital role in growing padel communities and delivering high-quality national competitions across the UK.
